Ashish Pathak, Ph.D., is an advanced research scientist in the Chemistry Department at Southern Research (SR), where he joined in 2009. His main research interests are medicinal chemistry approaches in the area of infectious diseases (anti-bacterials and anti-virals) and cancer, carbohydrates and saponins as immune stimulants, and vaccine adjuvants.
Pathak received his doctorate in chemistry from University of Lucknow in Lucknow, India, in 1993. Subsequently, he completed post-doctoral studies at Central Institute of Medicinal Aromatic Plants, Lucknow, National Institute of Health Sciences, Tokyo, and SR in various aspects of phytochemistry, carbohydrates, and medicinal chemistry. He was assistant professor of organic chemistry at Western Illinois University in Macomb, Illinois, for four years prior to rejoining SR in 2009.
Pathak is also an adjunct faculty in the Chemistry Department at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) and member of UAB’s Comprehensive Cancer Center.
