Ken Jeffers is manager of the Southern Research bench-scale SCR Catalyst Test Facility, which is devoted to helping electric utility customers remain in environmental compliance by providing performance and usable lifetime assessment of NOx control catalysts for their fossil fueled generating plants. Ken has over 15 years of industrial experience in diverse areas, including bulk chemical production, high-tech manufacturing, and applications engineering for air pollution control systems.
Prior to joining SR in 2013, Jeffers was the senior applications engineer at Johnson Matthey, Stationary Emissions Control. There, his focus activities included: preparing SCR and CO oxidation catalyst designs for coal- and gas-fired power plants; developing modeling tools to predict catalyst lifetime and performance; presenting technical information at industry conferences; and providing customer technical support on catalyst replacement strategies and performance monitoring.
Jeffers’ background also includes manufacturing engineering support for producing telecommunications gear at high-tech firms such as Adva Optical Networking, Lucent Technologies, and Motorola.
He received a Bachelor of Science degree in chemical engineering from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and a Master of Science degree in chemical engineering from the University of Florida. Jeffers is also a licensed professional engineer (Georgia).
