New Employee Orientation

All Maryland employees will attend Orientation at the Frederick facility located at 431 Aviation Way. Orientation will begin at 9:00 a.m. New employees will park in the general employee parking area located at the front of the building The Front Office staff will issue a parking sticker to you and take your photo for your ID badge.

The suggested attire is business casual. Due to allergic sensitivity of some of our orientation participants, we ask that you be conservative in your use of perfumes.

In addition to the above agenda, several additional on-boarding activities will be scheduled over the course of your first couple of weeks with Southern Research Institute. Some of these activities may include Bio-safety Level 2 (BSL2) and/or Bio-safety Level 3 (BSL3) training, Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) training, On-line Learning Tool (SRLearning), Time Reporting, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and/or Document Compliance Manager (DCM) training, and a one-on-one meeting with our local 401k advisor. Job specific training will be arranged by your supervisor.

Southern Research employees are paid bi-weekly, every other Thursday. Your first paycheck is determined by your start date. The Payroll Calendar is attached for your review and will give you detailed information

Employment Paperwork

For all new hires, Southern Research is required by federal immigration law to verify both your identity and your eligibility to work in the US. The link to the Form I-9 includes instructions and a list of acceptable documents that can be used to verify your status in these areas. When you come to Orientation on your first day of employment, you must bring your original documents. Photocopies DO NOT meet the requirements. The I-9 form must be witnessed by a member of our staff; therefore, please do not complete in advance.

Employee EEO Self-Identification Forms

As a federal government contractor, we are required to gather, maintain, and report on certain staff demographics. We therefore invite each employee to complete the following forms. You are not required to disclose the information requested if you choose not to do so, so each form provides an area for you to decline. We do request that you complete the form for our records, even if you choose not to disclose. There are no negative consequences for not disclosing.

The Southern Research policies listed here require your signed acknowledgement. Once you have read and understood the policies, print and sign the Acknowledgement Form and bring it with you to your scheduled on-site Orientation.
