Johnathan R. Furr serves as senior scientist in Southern Research’s Developmental and Reproductive Toxicology (DART) group. In this role, he establishes scientific guidelines and procedures, training and supervision of professional and technical staff, and evaluation of results and performance as related to DART studies conducted for the National Toxicology Program. Since joining Southern Research in 2016, Furr has also held the roles of study director and Project Manager for the DART team.
Prior to SR, Furr held multiple roles at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, including biologist, laboratory manager and biological sciences laboratory technician. While at the EPA, he contributed to the development of a screening assay that determines the ability of a test article to alter fetal androgen synthesis in male rats and mice
Furr is co-author on over 30 peer-reviewed publications. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Zoology from North Carolina State University.
