The Neurobiology Department is a collaborative locus of diversified scientific expertise, devoted to discovering effective central nervous system therapies to prevent, treat, or cure neurological diseases and mental health disorders. The Department’s multidisciplinary research and development efforts include neuromolecular discovery and neurobiological performance determinations. We work with investigators across Southern Research, as well as external academic collaborators and industrial partners.
Of particular emphasis are projects that focus on novel small molecule and biologic agents that are:
- Biochemical-pharmacological reagents and probes that afford deeper insights into CNS mechanisms, disease pathologies and therapeutic modes of actions
- CNS therapeutic agents specifically targeted to select diseases
- Biomarker and diagnostic agents to quantify CNS disease pathologies and therapeutically induced changes over time
