Senior Director, Human Resources
Amy Schoenthaler joined Southern Research as the senior director of Human Resources in September 2017. She comes to SR most recently from Think Surgical, in Fremont, California, and previously, from Rapid Pathogen Screening, in Sarasota, Florida. Schoenthaler heads SR’s HR initiatives, leading talent and culture transformation to fuel business growth, with an eye on compliance and ROI. She is responsible for the development of HR strategy, talent acquisition, compensation and benefits, employee and leadership development, succession management, organizational effectiveness, and diversity and inclusion. Throughout her 25 year career, Schoenthaler has led HR strategic and tactical efforts, partnering with leadership and colleagues to develop meaningful and impactful programs in support of organization vision and mission. She has garnered success progressing executable business strategies coupled with HR expertise in organizational design and training, focusing on measurable, results-oriented solutions that advance performance outcomes, deliver a strong workforce, and promote exceptional leadership.
Schoenthaler has contributed to a wide range of human resource, OD, and corporate administrative enterprises in the pharmaceutical, insurance, healthcare, energy, and medical diagnostics industries. Her focus at Southern Research is similar, as she looks to lead the HR team in identifying and meeting employee and management needs at all levels to bring the best of SR forward. Schoenthaler is a member of the UAB Management & HR Advisory Council as well as a member of the Birmingham HR Roundtable.
Schoenthaler earned her MBA in human resources/strategic leadership from Amberton University in Texas and a Bachelor of Arts in journalism from Rider University in New Jersey.
