Charles D. Hébert, Ph.D.

Charles D. Hébert, Ph.D., is a board-certified toxicologist (D.A.B.T.) with extensive laboratory and contract research experience in toxicology and cell biology. He has been board certified by the American Board of Toxicology since 1993, and he has been with Southern Research for over 24 years.
While at SR, Hébert has served as a study director or principal investigator (PI) on more than 200 nonclinical studies in multiple laboratory species, ranging from one-day acute studies to two-year chronic toxicity/carcinogenicity studies. Most of the studies on which he has been the study director have been designed to meet the regulatory requirements of the U.S. FDA and other international regulatory agencies. He has served as PI on more than 10 multi-year government contracts to evaluate to general and reproductive toxicity of new candidate drugs and other agents for various government agencies.
Hébert received his Bachelor of Science in zoology and his Master of Science in physiology from Louisiana State University. After earning his doctorate in toxicology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, he completed a postdoctoral fellowship in toxicology and molecular biology at the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS), followed by a two-year stint as a toxicologist at the NIEHS.
Hébert has been a member of the Society of Toxicology since 1985. He is author or co-author on more than 60 abstracts and peer-reviewed publications related to toxicology, as well as author and PI of more than 200 safety assessment reports for commercial and government sponsors.
