Dr. Guoyi Ma received his M. D. and MS degrees from Kunming Medical University in Kunming, China; and Ph.D. degree from The University of Sydney, Sydney, Australia.
Dr. Guoyi Ma has a broad expertise in molecular pharmacology and molecular biology and has been carrying out research on pharmacology of natural products for more than twenty years. He has spent 10 years working within the Department of Pharmacology of Kunming Medical University in China as an Assistant Professor and Associate Professor. His role involved extensive teaching and research of pharmacology. Dr. Ma’s research focuses on cardiovascular pharmacology, cancer pharmacology and neuro-pharmacology. He has successfully attracted a number of funding from The National Natural Science Foundation of China and local government research councils in China. During his Ph.D. study, his research work was focused on chemistry and pharmacology of anticancer agents from traditional medicinal plants at the Department of Cancer Medicine and the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Sydney in Australia.
From 2002 to 2018, he worked in the National Center for Natural Products Research and Department of Biomolecular Sciences, School of Pharmacy at the University of Mississippi where he carried out research on pharmacology of natural products (anticancer, anti-diabetes, and cannabinoid and opioid receptors ligands) and standardization of dietary supplements. He completed a number of projects from the NIH, the FDA and the US Department of Agriculture that supported the center to attract and maintain competitive funding for.
Dr. Guoyi Ma has published more than 60 peer-reviewed papers in scientific journals. He serves as a reviewer for numerous international medical and pharmacological journals such as Planta Medica, Journal of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics and Biochemical Pharmacology. He holds membership of several national and international professional societies.
