As manager of Immunoassay within the bioanalytical group supporting the Toxicology team, John Farmer oversees PK, ADA, and NAB immunoassay development and validation. Additionally, he acts as subject matter expert in immunology for colleagues and consults with clients to ensure immunological testing meets regulatory requirements and scientific rigor.
Farmer began his career at Southern Research in 1998 as a research assistant and went on to hold additional roles as research associate and toxicologist. After stints at MPI Research, where he was manager of immunotoxicology and cytometry and ICON Development Solutions, where he was manager of immunoassay, Farmer re-joined Southern Research in 2016 as a project leader in immunology. He assumed the role of immunoassay manager in 2017.
He is an expert in immunotoxicology/immunoassay scientific study and program design, as well as CRO project and relationship management. Additionally, he has extensive experience in designing and directing Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) and non-GLP immunoassay and immunotoxicology studies in multiple matrices and species.
Farmer is a member of the American Society for Microbiology and the Society for Leukocyte Biology. He is co-author on 15 publications. He earned a bachelor’s degree in microbiology from Mississippi University for Women and a doctorate in cellular and molecular physiology from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
