Dr. Chaurasiya is a Biologist in the Drug Discovery Division of Southern Research. He joined Southern Research in July 2018 as Scientist. His long-term research interest is in emerging drug metabolism (8-AQs), haematotoxicoligical assays, pharmacokinetics, enzyme assays and enzymes kinetics mechanism (neurological biomarker MAO-A/B) with specific importance on understanding the molecular mechanism and identification of new drug targets and discovery of compounds/drug, bio-analytical methods development for 8-AQs and its metabolites. Over the last 18 years, he has worked with numerous area including member’s enzyme kinetics and mechanism, haematotoxicity, 8-AQs drug metabolism, in vivo pharmacokinetics, plant secondary metabolites and biosynthetic pathways, and different type of assay/method development. His ongoing research at Southern Research involves 8-AQs drug metabolism, haematotoxicology for new drugs/ lead compounds.
Dr. Chaurasiya received his Ph.D in 2007 in Biochemistry from the University of Kurukshetra, India. He has worked as Post-doctoral Research Associate in NIH-funded project ‘Evaluation of Monoamine Oxidases inhibitors from B. cappi plant’ and 8-AQs drug metabolism at National Center for Natural Products Research (NCNPR), University of Mississippi, MS from Oct 2008- July 2013. In July 2013, he was promoted as an Associate Research Scientist at National Center for Natural Products Research (NCNPR), University of Mississippi, MS. In July 2017, he was promoted as Research Scientist at National Center for Natural Products Research (NCNPR), University of Mississippi. Dr. Chaurasiya has expertise in the areas of Bio-analytical, of drug metabolism, signaling pathway, Biochemistry and Cell Biology, enzymology. He also has extensive hands-on, new lab setup and supervisory experience in BSL-1 and 2 laboratories.
He is a member of the national and International biological scientific society. In addition to that Dr. Chaurasiya serving as a reviewer for several peer reviewed and high impact journals and also a member of as editorial board of scientific journals.
