Steven Orr is the Manager of Biosafety Compliance and Select Agent Responsible Official. He has over 11 years of experience with infectious disease research in GLP and Select Agent regulated laboratories. He has extensive bioanalytical and GLP study coordination experience in high containment Animal/Biosafety Levels (A/BSL)-3&4 environments conducting non-clinical safety and animal rule efficacy studies. Steve is also a former GLP and ISO 9001:2015 auditor. He holds Bachelor of Science degrees in Chemistry and Secondary Education from Lock Haven University (Pennsylvania) and a Master of Science degree in chemistry from the University of Alabama in Huntsville. He is an active member of the Society of Quality Assurance (SQA), serving as vice chair of the Bioanalytical Specialty Section in 2017 and session chair for the Quality College Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry course. He also holds membership in the American Biological Safety Association (ABSA) and the American Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP). Prior to his infectious disease work, Steve was a high school teacher and university professor. Steve now specializes in CDC/USDA select agent regulatory compliance, biosafety, risk assessment and mitigation, and providing training in each of these areas.
