Scott Hayes, Ph.D.

Vice President of Commercial Operations

Dr. Hayes joined Southern Research in 2024—bringing more than 25 years of experience in the biotechnology and contract research industry. In his role as VP of Commercial Operations, Dr. Hayes leads SR’s Business Development, Marketing, Proposal, and Client Service functions. A focus on enabling research to better lives has been a central hallmark of his career path. Dr. Hayes brings experience at the executive level having served as Vice President of Business Development, North America at Eurofins Discovery and Vice President roles in Scientific and Commercial Operations at Mirus Bio (since acquired by Merck KGaA). He also held key leadership roles within the life science division of EMD Chemicals and Biosciences (former US entities of Merck KGaA).

Dr. Hayes earned his B.S. in Biology from Michigan State University and his Ph.D. in Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology from The Ohio State University. Postdoctoral work was performed at Eli Lilly and Company.
