Rover Academy is a free, week-long summer program that offers a balanced, blended experience integrating interactive STEM learning, student mentoring, and career exposure designed for 9th-12th grade students.
Through hands-on robot construction, driving exercises, and experimentation, students will gain the skills needed to compete in today’s tech-centric world. The coursework combines engineering design and construction, coding, and real-world problem-solving.

This is a pay what you can camp. We do not consider ability to pay during application evaluation. After the camp is over, if your child had a good experience, we would ask you to pay what you can to enable more students to engage in the future.
The active hours of the camp are from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Students may be dropped off as early as 8:00 a.m. each day and must be picked up by 3:00 p.m.
Yes. We will provide lunch and a snack each day of the camp.
Rover Academy is held on the UAB campus in the Education and Engineering Complex Building – 1150 10th Ave S Birmingham, Alabama 35233.
Yes. Please indicate on each person’s application the name of your friend/sibling and the preferred camp dates you would like to attend together.
No, we do not provide transportation. We encourage you to carpool if you are able.
Yes. We are accepting current 8th grade students who will be in 9th grade in the 2023-2024 school year.
Yes. We are accepting students who are graduating from high school in May 2023.
Preference will be given to students who have previously completed Drone Academy, but anyone may apply.
Rover Academy is scheduled to occur as planned. Any changes will be communicated via our website and email.
