Mr. Koide joined Southern Research’s infectious disease program in 2007. He has 18 years of experience in research and program leadership, and he specializes in animal studies to evaluate novel vaccines and therapeutics for emerging infectious diseases including dengue, Zika, and yellow fever. During COVID-19 pandemic, he served as a principal investigator under Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA) and National l Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) contracts and lead the small and large animal model development for the US government.  He also served as the member of the World Health Organization (WHO) ad hoc Expert Group focused on COVID-19 disease modelling (WHOCOM).

Before joining Southern Research, he worked at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC), where he contributed to studies on newly developed cancer vaccines and involved in over 10 phase 1 and phase 2 clinical trials. Currently, Koide provides technical oversight on dengue and Mpox clinical programs as the subject matter expert for commercial clients. Mr. Koide received a master’s degree in immunology and microbiology from New York Medical College.
