Calling all STEM enthusiasts! Let your imagination and creativity inspire you on a journey exploring STEM’s greatest hits!
STEM’s Greatest Hits is a free, week-long summer program that offers a balanced, blended experience integrating interactive STEM learning, student mentoring and career exposure designed for 7th and 8th grade students.
If you are curious about how stuff works, this is the camp for you! Throughout this week-long adventure, you will participate in hands-on activities and experiments to explore the chemistry behind ocean acidification, create your own LED swag, investigate green engineering and develop alternative energy solutions, extract DNA from a strawberry, and so much more! Get ready for a STEMtastic week!
The camp is free!
The active hours of the camp are from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Students may be dropped off as early as 8:00 a.m. each day and must be picked up by 3:00 p.m.
Yes. We will provide lunch and a snack each day of the camp.
STEM’s Greatest Hits is held at Southern Research’s STEM Education Outreach Center in downtown Birmingham – 2000 9th Avenue South, Birmingham, AL 35205.

No, we do not provide transportation. We encourage carpooling if you are able.
No. We are only accepting students who will be in 7th or 8th grade in the 2022-2023 school year.
Yes. You do not need any prior experience with the topics we will cover during the camp—you’ll learn all of these things during the camp!
