About the 2024 Spring Break Camp

Southern Research STEM is hosting a free, 3-day Spring Break Camp that offers a balanced, blended experience integrating interactive STEM learning designed for 7th and 8th grade students.

If you are curious about all things science, this is the camp for you! Throughout this 3-day adventure, you will participate in hands-on activities and experiments to explore the wonders of genetics, probe pathogens and microbes, and get up close with chemistry! Get ready for a STEMazing time!​

March 26-28 (Located in Birmingham, AL)
April 16-18 (Located in Mobile, AL)

ELIGIBILITY

Students must be current 7th- or 8th-grade students.

What is the cost of the Spring Break Camp?

The camp is free!

What are the hours of the Spring Break Camp?

The active hours of the camp are from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Students may be dropped off as early as 8:00 a.m. each day and must be picked up by 3:00 p.m.

Will lunch be provided?

Yes. We will provide lunch each day of the camp.

Where will the Spring Break Camp be held?

The camp in Birmingham (Mar. 26-28) will be held at Miles College. The camp in Mobile (April 16-18) will be held at the Alabama School of Math & Science. Specific details about location will be sent with acceptance letters.

Can I attend the Spring Break Camp with a friend or sibling?

Yes. Please indicate on each person’s application the name of your friend/sibling.

Do you provide transportation?

No, we do not provide transportation. We encourage carpooling if you are able.

I am currently in 6th grade, can I apply?

No. We are only accepting students who are currently in 7th or 8th grade in the 2023-2024 school year.

I have little to no experience with STEM. Can I still apply?

Yes. You do not need any prior experience with the topics we will cover during the camp—you’ll learn all of these things during the camp!
